The Read This! 2012 Creative Reading Prize is an initiative of the National Year of Reading partnering with the State Library of Victoria (Centre for Youth Literature) and Good Reading Magazine (SpineOut.com.au). This project is a celebration of books for young adults and provides those aged between 12 and 18 years to share their love of books and reading with their peers in a creative way.

Great Holiday read - Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

If you are struggling to find a well-written, entertaining novel with original themes, consider picking up Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. This book has been one of the best Young Adult novels I have read recently, and it is a great title for adults too.

The story is set in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Karou is a talented artist, whose drawings of fantastical monsters and demons seem to be drawn from an overactive imagination. But Karou actually draws what she sees - a collection of chimera who are as close to her as family. Her beloved guardian brokers sinister deals in dark alleys - and Karou becomes entangled in a secret feud that could destroy the world as she knows it.

Mrlyablog would like to wish all the customers and friends of the library a very Merry Christmas, and an incredibly awesome New Year!

Remember that the Dubbo Branch Library will be closed from Saturday 24 December through to Tuesday 27 December, and will reopen on Wednesday 28 December until Friday 30 December, and then closed from Saturday 31 December to Monday 2 January. Normal library hours will resume on Tuesday 3 January 2012.
